Disneyland in May

DISNEYLAND

right before leaving...

May 10 - May 13

DAY ONE

I drove all of the hoursπŸ€—πŸ₯³ I realized in driving to Disneyland that I have a tiny bit of my dads tendencies. I was trying to keep this vehicle behind me because I thought it was hilarious when he’d try to pass me (as I’m going about 80 in the fast lane) and was not able to, forced to slow in the other lane and get behind me again 😬 When I lost focus on this good time he finally pulled in front of me and lo and behold! his license frame says U.S. Navy πŸ˜†πŸ€—
Perfect.
Walking into Downtown Disney it did feel like a touch of magic was missing. The temperature readings, and mask wearing (very heavily enforced) BUT it was WONDERFUL having room to walk and we ate, pretty much alone, in the Black Tap! Awesome.
We shopped, Michael bought the kids 😳 TOO many souvenirs and he got himself a light saber! Nerd. Darth Vader’s. On the way home he asked if I thought he should gift it to someone, dumb to buy? Too much of a nerd? Yet, one of the first things he did when we got home was take it out to play with it 😏 silly boy.
I got some great puzzles & a Christmas ornament :) Yay Disneyland!!! Shopping ✅
We checked into our hotel room & the girls were SO excited about it. Giddy to just be in a hotel. Me too. Hehe. Someone else cleaning my room for a few days… please and thank you. Great room & a view of the water park that we did not bring suits to play in. Girls did not mind. We had no energy for it anyway. Great big ocean mural on our wall and a cute little booth to eat in AND a surprise for us to have bunk beds too!
Gwinna claimed the queen for herself immediately, of course ;)

DAY TWO

Disney California adventure park
Ate a very overpriced breakfast that was not great in our hotel :/ and then it was off to be herded like cattle around in a long socially distanced line into the park and THEN to be told that wagons are not allowed in the park. Luckily they let us leave it in the stroller place for free. Oops… never read about that being a rule. But it ended up being better for all of us. Michael’s back, girls got lots of exercise!, not having to find somewhere to park it with every ride we went on.
Soarin was our number one ride (did it 3 times throughout the day) and it took us about 5 minutes to get on it! Crazy. Spoiled we were in this experience. We didn’t wait in any line longer than 15 minutes. It was surreal. And exciting! The girls love all of the spinning rides. I discovered rides I never knew existed like maters junkyard and luigis in cars land. Fun, cute little easy rides. We did Jessie’s carousel and emotional whirlwind…both too many times. Ha! Midway mania, toy story carnival shooting one a couple times. We each got a churro at one point in the morning. I did guardians alone of course and came off not feeling good at all !! Sad about this. Right after we did grizzly river run as a family & I really fought not to throw up into the water. I could barely climb the stairs after. After that we got good Mexican food that settled me. One time me and Sia completely forgot to wear masks and went to the bathroom…surprised not to be stopped.
Little mermaid after that. Sweet & calm. I did incredicoaster alone a couple times. So much fun. I think I may be with Eli when we go back altogether! Choosing that over guardians. The monsters ride is so great & well done and that may have been our longest wait at 15 minutes! Turtle talk with crush was hilarious & so fun. Noelle asked him who his favorite Disney character was and he brought out a Buzz doll. We were first in line so we got front row seats.
I did grizzly river run later with only Noelle & Sia. The first time we did it we all got soaked. Second. Barely wet…always fun except when you could barf! Haaa.
At the end of the day we thought we’d seen it all & it was nearly 7 so we we’re headed out and then saw goofys sky school! Little coaster but my goodness you do get the feeling you will FLY right out of it! Poor Sia and Noelle. They didn’t have the time to think or really even see what it was … no wait in this line! So I was laughing hysterically the whole time while apologizing to them and leaning forward to grab their shoulders since I didn’t really remember this one. Sia after the ride “it put a shock in my brain!” Noelle just kept saying “I’m in shock” and then added later that it should be called “torture the kids ride.” I just couldn’t stop laughing. Great way to say goodbye to that park. Hotel for door dashed cheese cake factoryπŸ€— yummm.

we saw Mickey right when we got in. tired eyes.

DAY THREE

Snail hunting while waiting for Mimi’s Cafe to open for breakfast. Sent those pictures to Remi :)
The only “plan” I had going to Disneyland side was to go on Peter Pan first. Tradition. After that we did Pinocchio, it’s a small world, carousel, mr. toads wild ride (waaay better in my head for some reason) … haunted mansion- I told Noelle she didn’t have to look because she was so scared and had flashbacks of my mom saying the same to me my first time on it. Pirates. All the girls freaked out by the drops. (Noelle decided no splash mountain for her) Wait times were longer here. 25 minutes. More crowded but I think it’s just a smaller park. It was supposed to have been at 25% capacity.
Winnie the Pooh. Dad and Sia climbed Tarzans treehouse together :) I didn’t want to leave everyone to do splash mountain. Me and Noelle did the go coaster in toon town. Roger Rabbit (ugh awful ride! So jerky and spinning and loud and not fun!) Got ice cream & root beer floats on Main Street after and then headed over to Star Wars land to NOT wait in the crazy rise of the resistance line. Sia and Noelle went separately with me on …don’t even know the name. The one that flies around at the entrance of tomorrow land and I felt like I could be sick again. Ha!! Star tours line and Gwinna chickened out at the very last moment. Michael said he’d go out but I wanted him to go on it but Noelle didn’t want to do it without me so it was a whole mess and we didn’t want to make a scene so we all left together. Then..autopia. Fun for the girls. We got Sia and Noelle light sabers and Gwinna her shoulder groot before ending the day in same way.
Door Dashed Cheesecake Factory ✨πŸ₯³πŸ˜¬πŸ€—πŸ€—πŸ€—

Princess Tiana waving back there

Princess Leia hair in the bathroom ha!

wait here labels ALL over...I did not mind the social distancing :)

DAY FOUR

Michael drove us out of LA and a little more, thank goodness. And I drove the remaining 3 hours and it was lovely to get home and see our Halloween kitty baby. Poor guy. Isabel did a wonderful job cat sitting for us AND she cleaned our toilets and showers and tub!!! This woman. Amazing! She does miraculous work, I tell you! Such a great way to come home. Kitty well fed and clean bathrooms. Oh AND she hand sewed close our bean bag that had been coming open since Christmas!
Good, good woman.
Good moments.

Back home we go. . . tired and happy and all Disneyed out
 . . . or are we? ;)
