April journals

April 9, 2020
Time is actually moving faster for me. Bizarre. But maybe not really. I love being home. This is my safe, recharging space where I have energy to exist. Throw me out in the world and I get stressed. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Anyway, when it was decided last week on Thursday that the girls would not be returning to school this school year we got a little bit more serious about homeschooling. A site that we’ve looked at before for homeschool is offering everything free for the next few months! 🎉 our schedule looks different everyday because we adjust and make it work. But in general... I teach the girls about art, literature, and music everyday focusing on just one from the above mentioned site each day. Michael does the same teaching zoology, science and history from that site. Michael does math and grammar daily with both girls and Portuguese everyday with Gwinna:) I participate too in helping with worksheets after they do online work. Khan academy is awesome. We also write everyday in our journals and I am in charge of the writing prompts:) the girls read to me after (my favorite part of the day!) They have been doing cosmic kids yoga when I am doing my workout or a different youtube workout (second favorite part of the day!) and then we all go on a family walk (my third favorite part of the day!) to end “school” for the day.
Whew. Most days are really great. Some are hard. The girls really have such a desire to learn and our enthusiasm definitely affects them.

A note about quarantine: It’s funny to have celebrities reading books to your kids... favorite so far is Kate Winslet ♥️

Feeling good today. Did Core De Force, an MMA workout that makes me feel super uncoordinated and slow but I LOVE it because it also makes me feel powerful & challenged & I don’t truly notice how much it pushes my body until the next day!
Me & Sia also had fun watching the Disney sing along, all done in peoples homes :) I’m laying with her right now and she just half whispered and sang “be our guest, be our guest.”
Sweet baby.

We went on a drive today. First day girls and I have been in the car in over a month:) we just drove to Gustine and back home... it was nice. Michael was our tour guide and in his mind he saw hotels and such along the way. He also led us through the enchanted forest wherein lived demon fairies and he told the girls to be sure not to make eye contact with their red eyes 😬🤪 further down the road “elvins” and elvin dust. We listened to Hamilton songs and talked about our parenting skills...lack of & how we can get better 🙌🏼
The girls were SO excited to simply get in the car and go for a drive. Simple pleasures 🤷🏼‍♀️

April

APRIL FOOLS day is never exciting here. I don’t love pranks but Noelle let me know that the googly eyes weren’t good enough so she asked me if I could pull another prank later....hence the idea from Pinterest brown E’s:)

Both great and awful things come from this whole Covid shutdown...AWFUL: Rediscovering I have a sees candy gift card and then NOT being able to use it for Easter!

General Conference weekend.  It just could not have come at a better time.  Also a very memorable one...huh....just as sweet President Nelson said it would be;)
Our President Nelson asked that we participate in a worldwide fast on Good Friday and another on April  10th.

I take comfort in this.  That is all.

The Easter bunny did a fun little scavenger hunt for the girls this year AND they had an Easter egg hunt set up in the garage by the bunny! Also cute foot prints.

Sugar cookies from the Grandma:)

Mama also set up 5 different hunts haha! One was a glow in the dark ? ... they did NOT love it.

Tie dying scrunchies
Noelle creating pictures for her teachers :)
Yep....trying to keep it fun over here...

New Disney Arena discovered by Daddy.  Sia LOVES it now too.

We dress up for our home church meetings every Sunday.

Homemade applesauce is the best kind.

Crafting...my favorite (not really though) hehe

Daddy Joe’s new hairstylist

I LOVE when these girls escape outside.
It is beautiful...the level of noise in the house goes
waaaaaay down.

Making Baroque era creations for our music lesson.
Lots of reading daily over here

Sweet Great Grammy brought me flowers and the girls amazing baskets for Easter:)

More crafting....🤭🤭

Superhero workout for PE. YouTube is awesome.

I’ve been productive in the toy/office room.  Shelves and art up that I’ve been wanting to finish 😊

Quarantine also caused me & my mom to miss the most fun opportunity to surprise Soph for her graduation
from BYU-IDAHO! :(

Change of scenery for school this day!

A writing prompt 😄

Google hangouts with her classes....strange times
